Let Us Tell You About Our Story
We were founded in the late 70s in Austin, Texas by Jesse Garza Jr., a coin, jewelry, & antique enthusiast with an entrepreneurial spirit. We moved to San Antonio in 1986 to be closer to family. Since then we have expanded both our knowledge & our inventory and we've become one of the most trusted names in unique heirloom quality treasures in Central Texas. The success of the Garza's family run business has been based on one fundamental principle, if you treat people right, they’ll keep coming back.
Jesse Garza passed away in November of 2014, but Cristina's continues to run on the same principles he instituted so that we may preserve his tradition and legacy, while simultaneously making old and new customers happy!
Six Decades Of Customer Service
We're a small family business and we treat our customers like family. We don't just want to make the sale, we want to make you our customer for life. The only way to achieve this is to make you happy so that you'll come back! So whether you're buying, selling, repairing, or trading, we treat you right!
We know that good news travels fast, but bad news travels faster, so we strive to make each transaction a positive one for our clientele and always keep 100% customer satisfaction our primary objective.
It's very simple. We want you to be so happy with your purchase that you come back the next time you want something. How do we do this? We sell extremely fine quality, hand-crafted treasures, whether they're contemporary & new, or vintage estate. We've been curating our collection for decades rather than selecting mass-produced items from a manufacturer's catalog, so rest assured, whether you're traditional or trendsetting, you'll find something you love in our store, and the quality is top notch.
Who We Are
Margaret Smith Garza
"Meg" graduated from UT in 1970 with a degree in journalism. If Jesse was the driving force, Meg was the glue that held it all together! In charge of all "back of the house" office management, Meg effortlessly kept the ship running smoothly as Cristina's Jewelry grew. Besides her love of family. For over 35 years she was an important volunteer for the American Cancer Society, & was awarded ACS National Volunteer of the Year among many other awards. Meg enjoys spending time with her family (occasionally even outside of work) and researching historical archives to learn about her family heritage.
Jesse Garza Jr.
After successfully running a small newspaper in Austin for many years and later a coin & jewelry store, the Garza family moved to San Antonio in 1986 and opened Cristina’s Coin & Jewelry. Since that day, 28 years ago, Mr. Garza was a staple of the local business community. Jesse was the driving force behind the success of Cristina’s. For those of you who never met him or didn’t know him well, his principle business philosophy was to treat people right! Jesse’s shoes were enormous and we have no illusions about filling them. But we will continue to conduct our business with the same principle… treating people right!
Michael Quinn Garza
Since Jesse's passing, Mike has carried the torch of the retail & customer service aspects of Cristina's. Mike spent his entire life learning about the jewelry industry under the tutelage of his father, learning how to identify and grade gemstones at a very young age. He is a Central Catholic alumni, class of 1990, and has 2 degrees from UTSA, a BA in Humanities and an MA in Art History, both assist him in researching the provenance of the many treasures inside Cristina's walls. He also has a notable background as a competitive soccer player and has coached hundreds of young soccer players for clubs and schools over the last 18 years.
Professional Jewelry Repair & Customization
Our second-generation professional jeweler has been working with us for almost 20 years and comes from a distinguished family of professional bench jewelers with nearly a century of combined experience.
He is an expert at setting stones, repairing, restructuring, or rebuilding gold, platinum, or silver jewelry, and custom modifications to enhance your precious items to your desire.
Because each jewelry item offers its own unique challenge, prices can not be given over the phone, and some repairs will take more time to complete, but with simple tasks such as basic ring-sizing, stone mounting, and soldering, work can often be completed within 72 hours.
