Large Crystal Cockatoo Bird "Ara" By Lalique
Designed by Marc Lalique in 1953, this lovely cockatoo stands proud, wings slightly open, with crest on full display. Elegant plumage is visible on the lovely frosted crystal decorative figure.
It is in mint condition with no scuffs or chips. Hand etched Lalique France on the base, behind the tail feathers. It is approximately 11" x 10.5".
Lalique is a French glassmaker, founded by renowned glassmaker and jeweller René Lalique in 1888. Lalique is best known for producing glass art, including perfume bottles, vases, and hood ornaments during the early twentieth century. Following the death of René, Lalique transitioned to producing lead glass (crystal) works during the 1950s while under the direction of René's son, Marc Lalique.
